Background: How does Global Search Work

The Global Search allows users to search through all platform content, including Ideas, Improvements, Startups, Trends, Campaigns, News, Tasks, and Expertise. Also Campaigns and News are now indexed and searchable over their full text by Semantic Search. Furthermore, also Features with texts like News, Tasks, Experts, Milestones, Resources etc. can be found. This can be configured in your Self admin configuration. All content indexed under selected keywords becomes instantly searchable, giving users a one stop search experience for insights across the platform.

Key Features

Advanced Filtering Options: When users view results in a specific content type (e.g., Improvements), additional targeted filters become available in the sidebar. For instance, users searching within Improvements can filter by relevant fields such as company goals or benefit types, streamlining access to precise data.

In addition, Date filters provide options for searching recent content or filtering within specific timeframes, such as "most recent" or "within the last year." This makes it easier to locate timely and relevant data across the platform.

Detailed View and Actionable Sidebar: Selecting a search result opens a detailed sidebar where users can view more information, perform further actions, or directly access the item (e.g., Campaigns or Tasks). This feature allows for a smoother navigation and more efficient workflow.

Qmarkets is using contextual search: This is a more advanced search technology that focuses on the context of the query as well as the intent of the user in order to fetch the most relevant set of results. Consequently, when searching for a specifikeyword, our search engine will not only look for the exact occurrences but rather present in the resulting search all related words (synonyms). The Global Search provides a robust tool to search across various subsystems and content types effortlessly

Taking as an example the keyword "travel", here is the difference between Traditional keyword-based and contextual search:

Type of search
Expected Results
Traditional search
  • Showing all occurrences of "travel"
Contextual search
  • Showing all occurrences of "travel"
  • Showing all occurrences of "tour"
  • Showing all occurrences of "trek"
  • Showing all occurrences of "visit"
  • Showing all occurrences of "vacations"
  • Showing all occurrences of "cruise"
  • ...

How to Use

The concept is to start with a search and then fine tune, filter and drill down as needed.

Start by inserting the relevant string on text area on the top right corner:

The results are sorted by relevancy and grouped by content type. There is an easy way to focus on a specific content type by clicking the tabs on the top.

You can filter on the results by using the filter on the left. Filter attributes are creation date, author info, relevant fields and more.
